Earlier this week, the Indonesian train operator announced a new train timetable would take effect on 1 April 2015. And no, it’s not an April Fools Day joke; Indonesia doesn’t do April Fools Day.

Sancaka Sore travel time – was 4 hours 44 minutes, now 5 hours 21 minutes
The observant will notice that many trains now have a longer (not shorter) travel time. The official press release attributes this to various factors, including better matching the schedule with local trains in e.g. Jakarta to avoid congestion and:

The press release also lists 50 additional passenger services, including a new (and the only) daytime train from Yogyakarta to Malang, plus extra services between Jakarta and Cirebon.
