The Indonesian weather forecast, for people on the move.
Visitors to Indonesia may be surprised how little attention is paid to the weather forecast. Many local television channels only show a weather forecast during their English-language news, and satellite/cable TV does not offer an equivalent of e.g. The Weather Channel. Some newspapers have a weather forecast for Jakarta, but not national weather.
While Indonesia has a tropical climate and there is less daily variation, it is still important to know if there will be e.g. rain, strong winds affecting e.g. ferries between Java and Bali, or a cloudy sky ruining your sunrise trip up Mt Bromo.
With this post, we are giving people the chance to get a weather forecast quickly and easily.
Chris was also once a qualified meteorologist, so he has selected the most accurate, easiest to follow and regularly updated weather forecasts for Indonesia – not just the ones that look nice. The forecasts come from AccuWeather, while the monthly averages come from WeatherOnline and World Weather Online. (Unfortunately, the official Indonesian weather bureau’s website is not so useful; it has only a 2-day forecast, and no way to upload or embed it here.)
This is not just a compilation of weather forecasts, but also monthly average temperatures and rainfall, so you can plan your next holiday and make an informed choice when booking your flights and hotels.
There has been an effort to include cities that are popular with tourists but rarely have their own weather forecast: Komodo Island, Ubud, Tana Toraja, Togean Islands, Wangi-Wangi, Baliem Valley. Unfortunately, we could not find an accurate forecast for these cities.
And now to the weather….
